Xiaofan | Portraits

For this shoot we decided to meet up at Cico Park, These two wanted a few fun portraits that they could use to decorate their home. We had a lot of fun, and despite the somewhat gloomy weather and the frigid cold we were able to capture some great moments! Here’s some highlights, I hope you enjoy them!

Jordan and Lee | Engagement

Jordan and Lee are an amazing couple and I thoroughly enjoyed shooting this engagement session. We had a lot of fun and there is a definite sense of the deep connection these two have with each other. I know God is going to do great things through their lives and through their marriage! I look forward to shooting their wedding, for now though the engagement photographs! We began the session at the Kansas State University campus, moving through a few locations there and then finished the evening off at Annenberg Park! I hope you enjoy them!

Matt Vignal | Portraits

Matt has been my friend for many years now, and often he ends up being my test subject when I get a new piece of equipment or want to try a new idea. After I got my hands on a couple strobes, he was willing to pose for some portraits. These are the result! And yes, he is a coffee addict.

Jeff and Rebecca | Engagement

Jeff I met at Kansas State University while working with a campus ministry called the Navigators. After graduating, he moved off and ended up finding a great women who happened, if I have my story correct, to live just blocks from his childhood home. It’s funny sometimes the timing of things! Well these two are great together and I’m sure God will bless their union together! We did two sessions at different locations, the first was a church we just happened to find because I was leading us out into the middle of no where (unintentionally!) and the second location is a sweet bridge, that I feel is going to become a common location as it delivers every time! These are the engagement shots!

Jeremy Bennett | Portraits

Jeremy is one of the first friends I made when I first moved to Manhattan. He is a great man and a great friend, so when He asked me if I could take a few shots of him with his Air Force uniform as a gift for his parents, I was honored. The shoot was a lot of fun, because well Jeremy is a lot of fun! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

These next few images show you just how much fun Jeremy is!

Leighton DeGarmo | Portraits

Leighton is one of those guys that if he’s able to help, he will especially when it involves wearing an awesome afro wig! I had recently purchased some new photo gear and was looking for someone to shoot, lucky for me, Leighton was around and willing. I had a lot of fun with this shoot and we got some great shots!

Sam Browning | Portraits

Sam Browning is one of my best friends here in Manhattan, so when Whitney Neely (of Simply Beautiful Photography) and I were looking to do some lighting tests he was willing to be our model for the evening. The following images are the outcome of that shoot. Lighting is a ton of fun and you can do some pretty sweet stuff with just one flash removed from a camera! Hope you enjoy the photos!

Brett and Sierra | Manhattan Engagement

Brett-Sierra-Engagement-1

This picture I hope gives you a sense of the beauty we were able to enjoy during Brett and Sierra’s engagement shoot. This area of beautiful Manhattan, Kansas is the Konza Prairie and is also the location where Brett proposed to Sierra. They have a great story about this, as in some of the coming pictures you will see to get to the point where the proposal happened some hiking is involved! Brett and Sierra were a lot of fun and were willing to do what I asked of them even when that meant getting covered in little green pods from the variety of prairie plants. Without further hesitation here is a series of photos from our time together.

I love this tree! I’m not sure what it is about the tree, it’s not large, it doesn’t have anything really special about it; but it stands alone there, and it’s unique. Every time I come out to the Konza I think about how I want to photograph someone by it, and I finally got my chance!

On the left you can see the hill you have to climb to get to the highest point in the prairie (which isn’t terribly high but it’s still quite a hike!) and on the right you can see the spot where Brett proposed!

On the left here, I told them to give me the ‘what now!’ pose…Epic! On the right you get to see their true personality.

From the prairie we went off to a railroad bridge where unfortunately the light was fading quick, we did manage to grab a few shots before we lost all light.

When I met with Brett and Sierra, I asked them what they loved to do for fun; what they enjoyed and often did together. Their answer was that they loved to watch movies, so we decided to set up a movie night to finish things up!

I hope you enjoyed the photos, and congratulations Brett and Sierra! May God bless your marriage and your lives!

Russel, Erin, and Family | Manhattan Portraits

Erin contacted me looking to get some family portraits done before her husband Russel was deployed with the Army. We decided to meet up at Cico Park. As the time approached the weather looked pretty bleak with some rain clouds showering our portrait canvas. Just in time though the clouds left and the sun came out giving us some beautiful early dusk light. I had a great time photographing this super fun family. Our time consisted of a few full family portraits and then we moved onto the playground and Russel and Erin played with their two beautiful daughters. I hope you enjoy the  following photos. Russel and family thank you for your service to this country!

A little water can create a great reflective surface, these are a couple of my favorite shots!

I hope you enjoyed the photos, I truly enjoyed capturing them! Thanks again Russel and Erin for choosing me to capture your memories!
