Brett and Sierra | Manhattan Engagement

Brett-Sierra-Engagement-1

This picture I hope gives you a sense of the beauty we were able to enjoy during Brett and Sierra’s engagement shoot. This area of beautiful Manhattan, Kansas is the Konza Prairie and is also the location where Brett proposed to Sierra. They have a great story about this, as in some of the coming pictures you will see to get to the point where the proposal happened some hiking is involved! Brett and Sierra were a lot of fun and were willing to do what I asked of them even when that meant getting covered in little green pods from the variety of prairie plants. Without further hesitation here is a series of photos from our time together.

I love this tree! I’m not sure what it is about the tree, it’s not large, it doesn’t have anything really special about it; but it stands alone there, and it’s unique. Every time I come out to the Konza I think about how I want to photograph someone by it, and I finally got my chance!

On the left you can see the hill you have to climb to get to the highest point in the prairie (which isn’t terribly high but it’s still quite a hike!) and on the right you can see the spot where Brett proposed!

On the left here, I told them to give me the ‘what now!’ pose…Epic! On the right you get to see their true personality.

From the prairie we went off to a railroad bridge where unfortunately the light was fading quick, we did manage to grab a few shots before we lost all light.

When I met with Brett and Sierra, I asked them what they loved to do for fun; what they enjoyed and often did together. Their answer was that they loved to watch movies, so we decided to set up a movie night to finish things up!

I hope you enjoyed the photos, and congratulations Brett and Sierra! May God bless your marriage and your lives!

Russel, Erin, and Family | Manhattan Portraits

Erin contacted me looking to get some family portraits done before her husband Russel was deployed with the Army. We decided to meet up at Cico Park. As the time approached the weather looked pretty bleak with some rain clouds showering our portrait canvas. Just in time though the clouds left and the sun came out giving us some beautiful early dusk light. I had a great time photographing this super fun family. Our time consisted of a few full family portraits and then we moved onto the playground and Russel and Erin played with their two beautiful daughters. I hope you enjoy the  following photos. Russel and family thank you for your service to this country!

A little water can create a great reflective surface, these are a couple of my favorite shots!

I hope you enjoyed the photos, I truly enjoyed capturing them! Thanks again Russel and Erin for choosing me to capture your memories!

Thanks to both of these Families for a fantastic time, I hope you too enjoy these photos!

I am definitely looking forward to doing some more of these shoots. The men and women of our armed services, and their children as well, sacrifice so much for this Country and for each of us who enjoy the benefits of their hard work. I hope this is a little something that I can give back to them!

Operation: Love ReUnited (Part 1)

This past weekend I had the opportunity to head out to the beautiful Fort Leavenworth and participate in my first ever Operation: Love ReUnited session. Actually it was four sessions in one. I heard about the event through the talented Erica May who happened to also be the person I found the organization through. She started the event off and with the help of the Army Community Service organization was able to book me with four wonderful families. I’ll split this into two posts so that it doesn’t end up being too long.
